Our Chocolate Sourcing Story

Chocolate Source - Republica Del Cacao, Ecuador

 

This past April I traveled to Ecuador with a gaggle of chocolate makers from around the U.S. to meet the farmers who grow the cacao for our chocolate, and to visit the factory where all of the ingredients come together to create the chocolate disks that we receive in Vermont and use to create the confections, bars and Magic Chunks that you can't live without.  

My trip to meet the farmers and makers of our chocolate was life changing and 100% reaffirming that we have found the best possible country and the strongest chocolate sourcing company to work with. Most notably, the farmers who grow the cacao own their own land and are able to grow cacao alongside a plethora of other tropical fruits, spices and plants, ensuring that they have a variety of crops from which they can glean additional income.

The families who grow the cacao also work closely with Republica Del Cacao staff to continually improve their practices as to increase the quality of life for the land and the people who work it.

The factory where the chocolate is made in Quito is exceptionally clean, spacious and efficient, and has Ecuadorians working alongside French engineers to bring it all together. We couldn't be more proud to support such a sustainable operation, and it is with great pride that we present you with the very best chocolate that you will ever taste.
